Poseidon’s roman name is Neptune. He is the god of the ocean and the seas, horses and earthquakes. Poseidon’s symbols are the horse, dolphin, fish, bull and the most famous of them all the trident. Poseidon’s consort, or in other words wife, is Amphitrite. Amphitrite is a sea nymph and also a sea-goddess. She is the daughter of Nereus, the oldest titan, and Doris, an oceanid. Their three most famous children were Theseus, Triton and Polyphemus. Poseidon’s siblings are Hades, god of the underworld, Hestia, goddess of the hearth, Demeter, goddess of crops, Hera, goddess of marriage and home, and Zeus, god of the sky. His parents are Cronos, the youngest and most powerful titan, and Rhea, a titaness.
